In the news today was an article regarding a Seattle, Washington police officer who shot and killed a pit bull who he claimed "stalked and charged" at him. The call to the police came from a 60 year old man walking his Chihuahua and then phoned to report "doggy harassment". Okay, that is just pathetic. If the old man knew the pit bulls were roaming in his neighborhood, why the hell did he go outside? Was the old man looking for trouble by parading his Chihuahua in front of the bull dogs? Lets think about how a Chihuahua looks to a pitbull..."dinner is served". Was a walk really necessary at 8:30 at night for a Chihuahua? Common!  The shooting occured when one of the pit bulls "charged" an officer.  I am willing to bet that this particular officer is over weight and couldn't run or climb a fence to save his soul. Instead, the officer chose to kill the animal. This was indeed a choice and to me, a poor one. Shame on the old man for not calling animal control and shame of the fat officer for not using an animal deterrent. It all boils down to the dog owner who should have kept his dogs behind a fence. My favorite part about this story is how the King 5 News headline read, "Pit Bulls Terrorize West Seattle Neighborhood." By the sound of it, you would think that it was the dogs that wore the holsters and opened fire.
